Course Objectives 1. To make the students aware of the correct ways of recitation of the Qur'Én as reported from the Prophet (s.a.w.). 2. To enrich their knowledge of linguistics, phonetic as well as the rhetoric through various systems on recitation of Qur'Énic verses. 3. To help them realize the impact of QirÉ Ét on determining the meaning of Qur'Énic verses. 4. To protect them from skepticism against the system of recitation. Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course the student should be able to: 1. Examine categories of recitation of the Qur'Én, developmental stages, and the distinction between the acceptable and unusual ways of QirÉ Ét. (C3) 2. Respond to the sceptical campaign (al-shubuhét) against the authenticity of QirÉ Ét.(A4) 3. Trace contributions of celebrated experts of the QirÉ Ét from the generation of companions (Îahabah), successors (tébiñin), ten wellknown authorities of readings and their narrators.
